Five daily Prayers
Allah SWT has made it obligatory for all Muslims, men and women, who are accountable or mukallaf for their own actions to perform five daily prayers at its specified time. The times of prayer are determined by the position of the sun.
The following are the prayer times:
- The time for Zuhur prayer is when the sun slants towards the west. It ends when the shadow of an object is equal to the object’s length. This does not include random shadows at noon.
- Asar begins at the end of Zuhur and ends just before sunset.
- Maghrib begins at sunset and ends when complete darkness approaches.
- Isya’ begins when the sky is in complete darkness and ends at dawn.
- Subuh starts before sunrise or fajr sadiq and ends when the sun rises.
Every Muslim must pray within the time period of each solat. A prayer is not valid if performed before its time.
Those who forget or fall asleep without praying have not sinned but must make up or qada’ their missed prayers.
Those who do not pray on purpose have committed a major sin and must qada’ the prayers they missed.
