Istisqa’ Prayer

Istisqa’ prayer is a prayer that is performed asking from Allah rain after a long drought.

The prayer is similar to an eid prayer with 2 rakaah and similar reciting of the takbir.

The niyyat:

أُصَلِّيْ سُنَّةَ الاِسْتِسْقَاءِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ للهِ تَعَالَى

I hereby perform 2 rakaah of sunnah istisqa’ in the name of Allah Ta’ala.

It is sunnah to accompany the prayer with one or two khutbah advising the people to fear Allah and seek forgiveness from Allah. It is also sunnah to regularly istighfar at the beginning of the khutbah (replacing the takbir during the Eid khutbah).

🔊 Ask your ustaz or ustazah to recite the Arabic with you.
