Khusuf Prayer

Khusuf prayer is a prayer performed when there is a lunar eclipse. It consists of just 2 rakaah and the niyyat is:

أُصَلِّيْ سُنَّةَ الْخُسُوْفِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ للهِ تَعَالَى

I hereby perform 2 rakaah of sunnah khusuf in the name of Allah Ta’ala.

The timing for this prayer is when the eclipse starts and till it ends or the sun comes out.

Kusuf Prayer

Kusuf prayer is a prayer performed when there is a solar eclipse. It is like a regular prayer with 2 rakaah. The niyyat is:

أُصَلِّيْ سُنَّةَ الْكُسُوْفِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ للهِ تَعَالَى

I hereby perform 2 rakaah of sunnah kusuf in the name of Allah Ta’ala.

This prayer is to be performed when the eclipse starts and till it ends or when the sun sets.

It is sunnah to recite aloud in the lunar eclipse prayer and softly during the solar eclipse. It is also sunnah to pray in a jemaah and is accompanied by one or two khutbah after the prayers.
