Witir Prayer

Solatul Witir is a sunnah prayer where the rakaah are odd numbers. It can consist of 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 or 11 rakaah. It cannot be more than 11 rakaah.

It can be done every night after isya’ prayers till dawn. It is not valid if it is performed before isya’ prayers.

Witr is prayed in pairs of rakaah with salams after each pair, followed by a single rakaah.

The niyyat:

أُصَلِّيْ رَكْعَتَيْنِ مِنْ سُنَّةِ الْوِتْرِ للهِ تَعَالَى

I hereby perform 2 rakaah of sunnah witr in the name of Allah Ta’ala.

The niyyat for a single rakaah:

أُصَلِّيْ رَكْعَةَ الْوِتْرِسُنَّةً للهِ تَعَالَى

I hereby perform 1 rakaah of sunnah witr in the name of Allah Ta’ala.

Dhuha Prayer

Dhuha prayer is a sunnah prayer that can be performed during the time the sun rises. The rakaah is between 2 and 8. The period is approximately 15 minutes after sunrise till before Zuhur.

The niyyat is:

أُصَلِّيْ سُنَّةَ الضُّحَىرَكْعَتَيْنِ للهِ تَعَالَى

I hereby perform 2 rakaah of sunnah dhuha in the name of Allah Ta’ala.

Tahiyatil-Masjid Prayer

Tahiyatil-Masjid prayer is performed before sitting down upon entering the mosque. It consists of 2 rakaah.

The niyyat is:

أُصَلِّيْ سُنَّةَ تَحِيَّةِ الْمَسْجِدِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ للهِ تَعَالَى

I hereby perform 2 rakaah of sunnah tahiyatul masjid in the name of Allah Ta’ala.
