Haid and Nifas
Haid is the menstrual blood of a female signalling puberty. The duration is normally 6 to 7 days; the minimum is one day and the longest 15 days.
Nifas is post-natal bleeding after childbirth. It normally lasts for 40 days, but may last for up to 60 days.
Once the bleeding has stopped, it is compulsory to bathe with the intention (niyyat) of removing the impurities of the hadath haid or nifas.
