Cleanliness from Hadath

Muslims must be pure from impurities called hadath.

There are two types of hadath:

• Minor hadath
• Major hadath

Minor hadath is caused by:

• Natural discharge like urine, gas or stool.
• Touching the opposite sex between non-muhrims (or close relative)
• Touching of the private parts with the palm
• Absence of consciousness, for instance sleep (except when we fall asleep sitting down)

To purify oneself from a minor hadath, one must wuduk and recite the intention of removing hadath.
