Do Not Be Mean

One day, Yazid asked his mother if they could go to the park. While walking, Yazid spotted beautiful flowers in the park. The lovely flowers fascinated him. Suddenly Yazid felt envious and said to himself, “Why are the flowers at home not as beautiful as these flowers?”.

He began to feel angry and said to himself, “This are not my flowers”, and began pulling the flowers out of the ground.

His mother told him to stop and advised him, “This plants didn’t do anything wrong. Don’t be mean to them. People who are mean will be punished.”

A few days later, Yazid came home from school and realized somebody had stolen his favorite bird and its cage. Yazid was very sad and began crying. His mother said, “There’s no point in crying. This is your lesson for being mean to the flowers the other day”.

Upon hearing his mother, Yazid was sorry. He promised to never again be mean to flowers, other people or animals.

Allah forbids us from being mean.
