Taking over Mekah
Based on the details in the Hudaibiah Agreement, the Bani Bakar people sided with the Quraishy and the Bani Khuza’ah sided with Muslims.
One day, the Quraishy group helped Bani Bakar to attack the Bani Khuza’ah people. When the Prophet Muhammad received the news, he began preparing to take action against them as they had broken their promise.
Abu Sufian, who was a Quraishy warrior, was sent to spy on the Muslims just outside of Mekah. He was caught and brought to face Prophet Muhammad, and he later converted to Islam. As he was a respectable leader in his community he was asked by the prophet to warn the Quraishy people not to object or stop the Muslims from entering Mekah.
Abu Sufian went back to Mekah and told the people not to object or stop the Muslims. They were asked to stay home, stay in the Ka’abah or go to Abu Sufian’s home.
He had called out “Whoever stays home will be safe! Whoever who stays at the mosque will be safe! And whoever stays at Abu Sufian’s house will be safe!”
On the 13th of Ramadhan, during the eighth year of Hijrah, Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam and his fellow Muslims entered Mekah without any incident. They went straight to the Kaabah, and proceeded to clean the surrounding and remove all the idols. They then tawaf or circled around the Kaabah, called out azan and prayed.
From then on, the Ka’abah was pure again and the azan could be heard from Masjidil Haram. Once Mekah were taken over by the Muslims, countless Arabs embraced Islam.
