The History of Prophet Muhammad before Hijrah

Prophet Muhammad was born on Monday just before dawn on the 12th of Rabiul Awal in the Year of the Elephant, which is equivalent to 20th April 570.

Prophet Muhammad was born an orphan as his father, Abdullah bin Abdul Mutalib had passed away when he was still in his mother’s womb.

His mother, Aminah binti Wahab had passed away when the prophet was 6 years old.

The Prophet was breastfed by his mother for a few days and then by Thuaibah Al-Aslamiah. He was then breastfed by Halimatus-Saadiah for four years at her village.

After his mother passed away, his grandfather Abdul Mutalib bin Hashim looked after Prophet Muhammad. When he was 8 years old his grandfather passed away and he was then looked after by his uncle, Abu Talib bin Abdul Mutalib.

Prophet Muhammad had travelled to Syam (Syria) twice. The first time was with his uncle Abu Talib when he was about 12 years old.

The second journey took place when he travelled with the Quraishy people bringing the trade goods of Siti Khadijah. He was 25 years old when he married Siti Khadijah binti Khuwailid.

When he was 35 years old, Prophet Muhammad was asked to solve the dispute of the Al-Hajral Aswad between the Quraishy people.

The Prophet Muhammad was 40 years old when Allah Subhanahu Wata’ala sent down the revelation to him. He was chosen to be a Prophet and Messenger of Allah.

Prophet Muhammad spread Islam in Mekah for 13 years. He was strongly opposed and soon he moved to Madinah.
