Keeping your promise

Keeping promises is a virtue. Islam tells us to always keep our promises. Before we make a promise we must consider it first. If we feel we can keep our word, only then do we make a promise.

When we make a promise we must always say “InsyaAllah” which means, “with God’s willing”.

Once we’ve made a promise, we must try our best not to break it so we don’t trouble others. If we break a promise on purpose we will be in the group of people who do not have faith in Islam.

According to a hadith, Prophet Muhammad Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam had said, “There are three signs of a Munafiq person; he lies, he betrays the trust he takes and he breaks his promises.”

Therefore, we must avoid breaking promises.
