The way to perform Jenazah Prayers

Jenazah prayers consists only of takbir being said four times, without ruku’ or sujud.

This is the way it is performed:

The body is placed in front of those praying. If the deceased is male, then the imam would stand at the head, and if female, the imam will stand in the middle. The imam will then proceed to takbir and recite the intentions to perform the jenazah prayer.

The intention or niat for the male jenazah is:

And for a female jenazah:

And for a ghaib or ghaibah jenazah:

• Takbir. And then recite Al-Fatihah.
• Takbir again, and then recite the salawat as in tashahud or

• Takbir again and recite a du’a for the deceased.

• And then takbir again, it is sunnah to then recite this du’a:
